About Pas de la Casa

The upbeat resort of Pas de la Casa (locally known as Pas) can be found in the parish of Encamp only a few hundred yards from the border with France. Pas sits at the altitude of 2050 metres, the highest lift being at 2640m which makes Pas de la Casa the highest Pyrenean resort. Due to an excellent location (plus the resort investment in snow making), Pas de la Casa benefits from excellent snow records as well as plenty of sunny days and blue skies.

Coll Blanc, Pas de la Casa, was home to Andorra's first mechanical ski lift, and was opened during 1957 by Francesc Viladomat, one of Andorra's ski pioneers. The very first ski resort in Andorra, Pas de la Casa – Grau Roig, was born from this early development. The area rapidly developed throughout the years, and most notably the recent development linking up Pas de la Casa – Grau Roig with the nearby resorts of Canillo, Encamp, Soldeu, and El Tarter during the season of 2003-04 creating the superb Grandvalira ski area, which offers 193km of varied pistes. This formed the biggest skiable area in the Pyrenees. The resort of Grandvalira has an extremely efficient and modern lift system providing access to the varied array of slopes on offer.

You will find that the slopes of Grandvalira - Pas de la Casa cater for all levels; beginners enjoying the slopes dropping in to Porte des Neiges, and intermediates having plenty of challenging red and cruising blue runs. Beginners have a special area with more gentle and moderate slopes, complimented by a ski school with an excellent reputation with a good number of native English speaking instructors. If you are looking for a bigger challenge there are also quite a few testing black runs you can try! Snowboarding is a very popular sport in Grandvalira - Pas de la Casa, especially amongst the younger crowds that holiday in Pas each year, many heading for the board park and trying out the half pipe found on Grau Roig's face of the resort.

Pas de la Casa is also renound for its après ski, being especially famous for its youth orientated night life. There's a great choice of bars, restaurants and nightclubs (click here to get info about Pas de la Casa bars) in Pas, with lots of special offers throughout the week and a good choice of places to party into the night! Be warned though, that if you fall for the temptations on offer in Pas you could end up foregoing a day on the mountain recovering from the night before; so our advice would be to take it easy so that you can enjoy the excellent snowboarding, skiing and scenery on offer on the slopes of Grandvalira - Pas de la Casa. Don't forget there are also loads of other exciting activities including skidoos, shopping, ice driving and paintballing, naming just a selection of them.
